Works For Me Wednesday

I don’t know if this is common knowledge or not, but I know that it works for me. I couldn’t count how many times I have gotten produce out of the fridge, only to find that the lettuce or broccoli or kale that I had counted on for dinner is now the consistency of Gumby, and not so appetizing. Since I fall spectacularly short in the planning ahead category and dinner preparation starts about 4:30, this does not leave a lot of time for contingency plans, and you can only convince the kids to eat eggs for dinner so many times, so you are stuck with the veggies that could win a limbo contest.
But now I have the solution in my arsenal: the cure for wobbly veggies. If you put the veggies in a bowl, cover them with ice water and let them soak for about ten minutes, they will come out as crispy and refreshed as the day they were picked, and possibly even better. I have used this with success with all kinds of leafy veggies, and it never ceases to make me feel like I have outsmarted my produce. Once when I didn’t’ have any ice in the freezer, I even substituted one of those lunchbox freeze packs in the water, and it worked just as well. Is this old news, or helpful to anyone? Either way, it works for me!

It's helpful to me - thank you!!

Yay, I'll have to try that!
About the geocaching - I was so excited to do it and got all signed up. I found out that there's one block away from my house. But I forgot the most important part... I don't have a gps! It's right under my nose and I can't find it! But once I find someone that has one I can borrow I can't wait to see whats inside with my kids. Thanks for sharing that info.
